Accouting Manager
Own day-to-day accounting as an individual contributor for a healthcare AI startup. Run monthly close, manage AP/AR, expenses, payroll, revenue operations, and automate processes using AI tools and systems thinking. Requires 4-7 years progressive accounting experience including public accounting.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Continuous close, month-end close, and year-end close: Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, prepaids, amortization, revenue recognition, payroll), maintain the close calendar, and deliver a complete, reconciled general ledger every month.
- Revenue and billing operations: Manage executed contracts in the ERP revenue subledger, customer invoicing and communication, collections and reporting. Reconcile the revenue subledger to the GL monthly and investigate discrepancies.
- Expense management: Own corporate card and expense operations end-to-end (Ramp): policy enforcement, coding accuracy, GL reconciliation, and employee reimbursement processing.
- Payroll processing: Own payroll end-to-end (Rippling): new hire/termination setup, on-cycle and off-cycle payment accuracy, commission calculation, and GL reconciliation.
- Data management and integrity: Own the accuracy and structure of financial data across Campfire, Ramp, Salesforce, Rippling, and Replit, with clean coding, consistent taxonomy, and reliable data flows between systems.
- Systems and automation: Bring a systems-thinking lens to accounting processes, find where manual work can be automated or restructured, and use AI tools to speed up reconciliations, research, and documentation.
Requirements
- 4–7 years in progressive accounting roles, including time in public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) followed by an industry role managing day-to-day accounting directly.
- Use AI tools in day-to-day accounting work — reconciliations, research, drafting, data cleanup — and look for more ways to apply them.
- Systems mindset: look for the logic and data flow behind every process, not just the transaction.
- Owned accounting operations and month-end close processes with real attention to detail.
- Comfortable as an individual contributor — self-directed with no direct reports.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in startup or high-growth environments, particularly pre-audit or early post-audit.
Compensation and Benefits
- Full medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and participation for your family.
- 401(k) with Company Match: Plenful matches 50% of your first 3% contributed.
- Equity: Every full-time employee shares in our success.
- Unlimited PTO.
- Daily Lunch Stipend: $100/week.
- Wellness Stipend: $100/month.
- Commuter Benefits: $100/month for SF and NYC-based employees.
- Parental Leave: Paid leave to support growing families.
