Fraud Analyst

The Fraud Analyst investigates fraud, money laundering, and suspicious activity while supporting BSA/AML compliance, transaction monitoring, and regulatory reviews. The role requires at least two years of fraud or financial crime experience, strong analytical skills, and familiarity with relevant compliance systems and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, investigate, and escalate potential fraud, money laundering, and suspicious activity alerts using transaction monitoring systems and case management tools.
  • Review customer activity, account behavior, and transaction patterns to identify fraud and financial crime red flags.
  • Perform customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and ongoing monitoring reviews.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and senior management on complex investigations and recommend risk mitigation actions.
  • Maintain investigation documentation to support audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Assist with developing, testing, and tuning transaction monitoring rules and fraud detection scenarios.
  • Stay current on fraud typologies, AML regulations, and industry best practices; contribute to policy and procedure updates.
  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and independent BSA/AML program reviews.
  • Provide guidance and training to frontline staff on fraud and AML red flags.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of direct experience in fraud investigation, fraud operations, or fraud risk management within financial services or fintech.
  • Working knowledge of BSA/AML regulations, OFAC sanctions, and related compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with transaction monitoring systems, case management platforms, and fraud detection tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data and identify suspicious or fraudulent activity patterns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting investigative narratives and regulatory filings.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in fintech, payments, or digital banking.
  • CAMS, CFE, or another relevant compliance or fraud certification.
  • Familiarity with SAR filing processes and FinCEN requirements.
  • Experience collaborating across Fraud, Compliance, and Risk functions.
  • Knowledge of account takeover, synthetic identity, payment fraud, mule activity, and other emerging fraud trends.

  • Base salary: $115,000–$140,000 USD.
