Responsibilities
- Drive the long-term technical vision for MongoDB Search, anticipating vector, hybrid, and AI-native application patterns.
- Represent customers building mission-critical AI applications and identify needs around scalability, consistency, performance, and multi-tenancy.
- Partner with engineering leadership to translate distributed-systems tradeoffs into business value while balancing innovation and production stability.
- Collaborate with SRE and Solutions Architects on instrumentation, observability, feedback loops, and proactive reliability improvements.
- Lead architectural audits, define SLOs and SLIs, develop strategic investment plans, improve alerting, and guide major infrastructure capabilities from concept through general availability.
- Use operational metrics and incident learnings to improve reliability, reduce toil, and influence roadmap allocation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience focused on infrastructure or distributed systems.
- Deep knowledge of CAP theorem, consistency models, sharding strategies, replication, and production operations.
- Experience driving operational excellence and connecting system health to business outcomes through data-driven narratives.
- Ability to influence architectural decisions and engineering roadmaps without formal authority.
- Strong customer-discovery, strategic planning, technical communication, and executive storytelling skills.
- Empathy for engineering experiences such as on-call operations and production debugging.
Nice to Have
- Production experience with Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene, or vector databases at scale.
- Experience with AI/ML infrastructure, vector search, embeddings management, or hybrid retrieval systems.
