Responsibilities
Technical leadership and roadmap
- Lead architecture for reusable, scalable systems across off-platform workflows, cleanrooms, taxonomy automation, and the Ads Data Solutions Platform.
- Evolve core abstractions, testing, CI/CD, observability, and cost efficiency; drive modernization.
- Propose and drive engineering initiatives, align stakeholders, and manage dependencies.
Pillar execution
- Expand and harden integrations with external advertising platforms.
- Design privacy-forward activation and identity workflows and build measurement ingestion pipelines for reach, frequency, and conversion signals.
- Extend cleanroom orchestration and governance tooling, including multi-cleanroom support and policy enforcement.
- Develop reusable query templates and partner configurations; optimize pipelines for cost and performance.
- Lead Ads Taxonomy intake automation and release workflow improvements.
- Contribute to platform modernization, developer tooling, and on-call/SLO strategy.
AI-first engineering
- Use AI-assisted tools for design, coding, testing, and documentation.
- Define team prompt patterns and workflows and identify AI opportunities in internal tools and operations.
- Evaluate AI versus deterministic systems and apply appropriate evaluation, guardrail, security, and privacy practices.
Quality, privacy, and security
- Translate ambiguous requirements into pragmatic POC, pilot, and production phases with clear SLAs/SLOs.
- Champion security-by-design, data governance, and privacy compliance, including GDPR and CCPA, across data pipelines.
Mentorship and collaboration
- Mentor engineers up to L5 and establish code quality and review standards.
- Partner with Product, Data Science, Data Platform, Governance, Ads Manager, Measurement Science, Privacy/Legal, and external platforms.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience delivering and operating large-scale backend or data systems, with cross-team leadership and architectural decision-making.
- Strong Python and one of Ruby or Go.
- Experience building services and APIs using REST or gRPC.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, including advertising platforms.
- Experience with data pipelines using dbt and Airflow, Spark or Databricks, advanced SQL, and performance tuning.
- Experience with Snowflake, AWS, cost-aware design, workflow orchestration such as Temporal, and event-driven patterns.
- Experience with ad-tech or programmatic advertising, measurement integrations, cleanrooms, identity or matching, and deconfliction.
- Working knowledge of GDPR and CCPA in data workflows.
- Experience with CI/CD, containers, testing strategies, observability, incident readiness, and SLOs.
- Recent hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or OpenAI-based assistants.
- Experience defining reusable prompts or workflows and contributing to AI-enabled internal tools or automation.
- Clear technical writing, stakeholder management, consensus building, and execution skills.

Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: CA$196,000–CA$207,000 CAD, dependent on permanent work location.
- Eligible for a new-hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.

- Remote work is currently available to employees in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
