Mechanical Design Engineer - Sensor Cleaning
Design, integrate, validate, and launch sensor cleaning systems for cameras, LiDAR, and other perception sensors on autonomous vehicles. The role requires automotive mechanical design experience, 3D CAD proficiency, cross-functional leadership, and familiarity with validation and quality processes.

Responsibilities
- Develop sensor cleaning components and systems to keep cameras, lidars, and other perception sensors free of contaminants.
- Perform packaging studies, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, DFM/DFA, and reliability assessments.
- Design and build mockups, proofs of concept, and functional prototypes.
- Develop and release CAD models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Support test engineering, sensor performance engineering, and validation teams with test design, failure analysis, and quality management.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and quality engineers to ramp production processes and meet build objectives.
- Maintain BOMs, document and approve build processes, and support quality and cost engineering throughout the supply chain.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop prototypes, resolve technical issues, and support manufacturing readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics with 5+ years of working experience in the automotive industry, or a master's degree with 3+ years of experience.
- Strong mechanical design fundamentals, including:
- Plastic injection-molded components
- Sheet metal and machined parts
- Tolerance stack-up analysis
- Fluid and pneumatic systems
- Thermal and heating system integration
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as CATIA, NX, Creo, or SolidWorks.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams to develop and launch product solutions.
- Experience with DV/PV testing, DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP, and PPAP processes.
