Electrical Engineer, Modular R&D

Designs and releases electrical systems for factory-built modular data centers, covering power distribution, grounding, controls, drawings, integration, prototyping, and production support. The role suits an engineer experienced with complex physical products, modular construction, or critical facilities.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Engineer the electrical systems of a modular data center product, including power distribution, grounding, and controls integration, from concept through released drawings.
  • Own one-lines, panel schedules, and cable and raceway designs for factory installation and field connections.
  • Resolve electrical, structural, and mechanical integration issues involving routing, penetrations, and tolerances.
  • Support factory and field operations by answering RFIs and incorporating fixes into subsequent revisions.
  • Drive prototyping and validation through mockups, fit checks, and first-article reviews.
  • Support production launches from first article through repeat builds.
  • Maintain configuration control as designs iterate across prototypes, factory runs, and field deployments.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience engineering electrical systems for complex physical products, modular construction, or critical facilities.
  • Experience with prefab power skids, switchgear OEM products, modular data centers, or repeatable critical-facility work at an EPC.
  • Experience supporting production launches of self-designed systems from first article through repeat builds.
  • Ability to design for factory installation using harnesses and pre-terminated assemblies.
  • Ability to create clear, buildable drawings and collaborate across electrical, structural, and mechanical disciplines.
  • Ability to iterate quickly while maintaining configuration control.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Fluency in electrical codes and panel standards, including NEC and UL 508A.
  • Data center power distribution experience.
  • Electrical CAD expertise, including AutoCAD Electrical and Revit.
  • Strong design-for-manufacturing (DFM) instincts.

Compensation

  • Compensation is subject to the company's pay equity and transparency practices.
