Build and optimize Apache Druid’s query engine and storage systems, developing high-performance query capabilities for observability and security data. The role requires 5+ years of individual-contributor experience developing concurrent Java systems and a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities
- Extend the Apache Druid query engine and storage system to support a wider class of query functions.
- Build complex query capabilities with strong query performance.
- Work with the field engineering team to support customers.
- Contribute to the Apache Druid community through code and design reviews.
Requirements
- Experience developing high-concurrency, performance-oriented Java systems.
- At least 5 years of experience as an individual contributor.
- Strong software engineering practices, including code reviews, testability, and quality.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to designers, support staff, and engineers.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with internals of large-scale distributed systems and databases such as Hadoop, Spark, Presto, and Elasticsearch.
- Open-source contributions, especially to data-related projects.
Compensation and benefits
- Compensation: $155,000 - $215,000, including on-target earnings.
