Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead throughout the sales cycle, including pre-sales and account technical leadership.
- Educate, empower, and support public-sector prospects and customers using the Cloudflare platform.
- Identify best-fit solutions based on customer needs and Cloudflare technology.
- Train and onboard new customers through videoconference or in-person sessions.
- Create technical documentation and support customers’ long-term technology strategies.
- Advise customers on technical best practices, Cloudflare product implementations, features, and strategic guidance.
- Qualify prospect and customer use cases, discover technical requirements, lead demonstrations, identify and design solutions, and collaborate on proofs of concept.
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Support.
- Translate technical concepts for systems engineers, frontend developers, IT managers, and C-level audiences.
- Share knowledge through blog posts, team demonstrations, and product training sessions.
- Manage projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize competing demands.
- Travel approximately 30–40% for prospect and customer meetings, conferences, industry events, and team collaboration.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a customer-facing sales or consulting role.
- Understanding of Internet technologies, including OSI Model layers 1–7, routing, TCP/UDP, DNS, HTTP(S), and SSL/TLS.
- Experience with on-premises infrastructure and networking configurations, including legacy systems or methodologies.
- Understanding of firewalls, including L3, L4, and L7 firewalls.
- Comfort with command-line interfaces, RESTful APIs, and analyzing HTTP requests and responses using browser web inspectors.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, project-management, collaboration, mentorship, and emotional-intelligence skills.
- Foundational understanding of AI and interest in exploring or building AI-driven capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Architect certification.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and identify creative solutions to customer problems.
Compensation and Benefits
- San Francisco-based hires: estimated annual salary of $231,000-$275,000+ OTE, base plus commissions.
- Los Angeles-based hires: estimated annual salary of $221,000-$267,000 OTE, base plus commissions.
- Compensation may be adjusted based on work location.
- Eligible for incentive compensation under the Sales Compensation Plan.
- Eligible to participate in the equity plan.
