Owns cloud and software cost visibility through forecasting, chargeback, anomaly monitoring, and automation. The role partners across engineering, product, finance, and accounting and requires 5+ years of analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and scripting experience, with strong Python, SQL, and AWS expertise.

Responsibilities
- Forecast, allocate, and predict cloud and software spend; monitor AWS and the broader technology stack for anomalies and address them.
- Build guardrails to prevent recurring cost issues.
- Maintain chargeback models tying spend to services, squads, and contracts, and partner with Accounting and FP&A to align financial data.
- Serve as the trusted source for product and leadership questions about costs.
- Automate recurring work using Python, GitHub Actions, AWS Lambda, SQL, and dbt.
- Manage AWS Reserved Instances and Savings Plans.
- Identify cost and efficiency opportunities, develop formal proposals, and drive approved initiatives across engineering, product, finance, and accounting.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience across data analysis, budgeting, and forecasting; cloud FinOps experience strongly preferred.
- 5+ years using code to automate manual work.
- Strong Python proficiency and working knowledge of SQL.
- Hands-on AWS experience, including pricing, cost models, Reserved Instances, and Savings Plans.
- Ability to define ambiguous problems, develop proposals, and manage initiatives to completion using Scrum or Kanban in Jira.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, including communicating complex analysis to executives and engineers.
- Experience using AI to improve productivity; Claude ecosystem experience is a plus.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with CloudZero, Terraform through Spacelift, GitHub Actions, AWS Lambda, SQL, dbt, Python, and APIs.
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) credential or hands-on FinOps experience.
- Foundational software engineering experience.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $82,000–$137,000 USD annually.
