Responsibilities
- Own the Developer Platform architecture and set technical direction for a coherent, scalable platform.
- Design distributed systems for throughput, reliability, consistency, and robust failure handling.
- Turn ambiguous, complex platform problems into clear, modular technical designs.
- Design platform interfaces that support both human developers and AI agents.
- Set engineering standards and lead constructive technical reviews.
- Partner with technical leads across adjacent teams on major architectural decisions and platform alignment.
- Mentor engineers and champion strong technical execution.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record as a Principal- or Staff-level individual contributor.
- Extensive experience designing and operating high-scale, reliable backend and event-driven systems.
- Experience designing and shipping platforms or developer-facing systems at scale.
- Deep understanding of identity and access management.
- Ability to own ambiguous problems and drive them to clear technical direction.
- Strong Node.js fundamentals.
- Familiarity with agentic tooling, MCP, or LLM-facing design.
- Experience collaborating across engineering, product, and architecture teams.
Nice-to-haves
- Go experience.
- Experience with agent frameworks, AI-facing systems, or LLM developer toolchains.
- Experience at a company where developers are the primary customers.
- Experience setting technical direction for platforms used by other engineering teams.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual base salary: $184,000–$253,000 CAD for candidates located in Canada.
