Leads product designers responsible for Mercury’s core experiences and defines interaction principles for AI-native, conversational, adaptive, and proactive products. The role requires exceptional product judgment, hands-on design leadership, strategic cross-functional partnership, and experience developing high-performing design teams.

Responsibilities
- Define and evolve Mercury’s interaction philosophy, especially for AI-native, conversational, adaptive, and proactive experiences.
- Set a high product-quality bar across the Interfaces organization, including mobile, dashboard, and agentic products.
- Lead, coach, and develop product designers while fostering creative risk-taking and strong points of view.
- Shape product strategy with Product and Engineering, bringing design into ambiguous problems early.
- Stay close to the work through critique, prototyping, exploration, and hands-on collaboration.
- Raise the craft and product-thinking bar across the broader Design organization by sharing frameworks and perspectives.
Requirements
- Exceptional product taste and strong visual and interaction design fundamentals.
- Strong point of view on AI-native interfaces and emerging conversational, adaptive, intelligent, and proactive interaction models.
- Experience leading and developing product designers while remaining engaged with the work.
- Ability to think about interactions as systems, including patterns, information architecture, behaviors, and principles.
- Strong strategic partnership skills with Product and Engineering, including comfort with technical constraints and unfinished work.
- Ability to operate independently, create structure amid ambiguity, and move work forward with sound judgment.

Compensation
- US employees: $228,700–$285,900 USD base salary.
- Canadian employees: $216,200–$270,200 CAD base salary.
- Total rewards include base salary, equity, and benefits.
