About the role

Responsibilities

CIO Department Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead the creation, iteration, and execution of the long-term CIO department strategy.
  • Partner with IT and business leaders to build, communicate, and track a multi-year IT roadmap spanning core modernization, cloud infrastructure, enterprise security, and practical AI applications.
  • Draft executive narratives and presentations for the Board of Directors, executive leadership, and company town halls.
  • Provide the CIO with structured insights, operational metrics, and decision-support materials on technology investments and organizational design.

Department Operations, Governance & Policies

  • Direct the CIO team’s operational cadence, including leadership meeting agendas, cross-functional dependencies, and accountability against strategic goals.
  • Oversee pragmatic IT policies covering safe data usage, information security operations, and responsible AI usage.
  • Manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets, vendor portfolios, software licensing, and cloud costs.

Execution & Program Delivery

  • Translate CIO strategy into quarterly and annual OKRs and establish KPIs for system reliability, project velocity, and enterprise tool adoption.
  • Drive high-priority strategic IT programs from kickoff through execution with Security, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and Business Operations.
  • Evaluate the departmental operating model, identify bottlenecks, and lead process improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Strategy & Operations, Chief of Staff, IT Program Management, or Management Consulting, working directly with senior technology leadership such as a CIO, CTO, or VP of IT.
  • Experience building, documenting, and executing enterprise IT strategies and multi-year technology roadmaps.
  • Practical understanding of enterprise IT architectures, cloud and SaaS vendor ecosystems, software development lifecycles, and modern workforce tools.
  • Familiarity with corporate AI use cases, automation capabilities, and the governance and cost considerations of enterprise AI adoption.
  • Experience managing IT operating budgets, vendor contract evaluations, headcount planning, and resource allocation.
  • Experience developing enforceable policies, program frameworks, and portfolio tracking mechanisms.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex technology strategies into executive materials.

Compensation

  • Pay range: $167,400–$372,000 USD.
  • Starting pay considers work location, skills and experience, market demands, and internal parity.
  • For roles with on-target earnings, the range includes base salary and target incentive compensation.
