Community Lead, Developer Relations

Leads OpenRouter’s developer community across Discord and other channels, scaling moderation, recognition programs, events, automations, and product feedback loops. Requires 3+ years of community or developer-relations experience, hands-on LLM development, and strong communication with developer audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Own and operate OpenRouter’s Discord community, including events, giveaways, and challenges.
  • Design and scale contributor, helper, recognition, and moderator programs.
  • Recruit, onboard, and support community moderators.
  • Monitor community sentiment, trends, and feedback about OpenRouter, models, and the broader AI ecosystem.
  • Build and maintain automations for community listening and signal detection.
  • Create playbooks and resources that enable members to organize OpenRouter events in different locations.
  • Extend community engagement across Twitter/X, Reddit, and other social channels.
  • Synthesize feedback, bug reports, and sentiment into actionable insights for engineering, product, and design, and communicate outcomes back to the community.
  • Partner with marketing and Developer Relations on campaigns, launches, content, and events.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in community management, developer communities, or a related field.
  • Experience operating Discord or similar communities at meaningful scale, including events, programs, and moderation.
  • Hands-on experience building with large language models and their APIs, including shipping projects and discussing model tradeoffs, harnesses, and techniques with developers.
  • Strong written communication across Discord, Twitter/X, and Reddit.
  • Experience designing contributor, ambassador, or moderator programs.
  • Experience running online events, hackathons, giveaways, or community challenges.
  • Scalable, systems-oriented approach to community building.
  • Self-directed, entrepreneurial, and comfortable executing independently.
  • Comfortable representing OpenRouter publicly.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building community-listening automations or lightweight sentiment-tracking tools.
  • Experience running or scaling in-person events and meetups across cities or regions.
  • Familiarity with OpenRouter as a user.
  • Experience creating lightweight content such as threads, clips, memes, or recaps for developer audiences.
  • Ability to travel regularly for events; Bay Area location is preferred.
