Accounting Manager

Own the foundational accounting and financial operations function as the first full-time accounting hire, building scalable, audit-ready processes and systems for a high-growth technology company. Requires 2–6 years of audit or startup accounting experience and strong financial systems expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Own accounting and financial operations, from annual planning through day-to-day workflows, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
  • Identify, propose, and implement scalable automation and process improvements as transaction volumes grow.
  • Prepare the company for future audits by defining the required roadmap and timing.
  • Manage relationships with tax, bookkeeping, vendor, government, and audit partners.
  • Implement tools and processes connecting internal systems and streamlining workflows.
  • Develop internal policies, including expense and procurement policies.
  • Build trusted relationships with company leaders and employees.
  • Support special projects involving real estate planning, variable compensation analysis, cash management policies, and contracting.
  • Support cross-functional workflows across Legal, HR, and Office operations.

Requirements

  • 2–6 years of experience, including experience in Big 4 or equivalent audit and/or high-growth technology startups.
  • Experience implementing and managing modern financial systems, including ERP, spend management, and payroll platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Strong attention to detail and formatting.
  • Ability to prioritize speed and practicality in a high-growth startup environment.
  • Self-directed approach to identifying and resolving operational gaps.
  • Interest in implementing emerging technologies, including AI workflow and productivity tools.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Current or former CPA designation.
  • Experience with DCAA compliance and government contracts.
  • Defense technology or cybersecurity industry experience.
  • Familiarity with Campfire and Ramp.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary range of $125,000–$210,000.
