Responsibilities

  • Own risk selection, pricing, and appetite across national governing bodies, professional teams, and events.
  • Shape policy design and wording, not just the rate.
  • Codify underwriting judgment into rating models, appetite rules, and referral logic.
  • Review referrals and complex risks, feeding each decision back into the underwriting system.
  • Build and lead the sports underwriting team as the book scales.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of underwriting sports, leisure, or entertainment risks at a carrier, MGA, or Lloyd's syndicate.
  • Strong property and casualty fundamentals across liability lines.
  • Fluency in sports exposures, including sanctioned events, club structures, and national governing body structures.
  • Credibility across pricing, wordings, appetite, and risk selection.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

Nice to Have

  • Contingency or accident and health exposure alongside a property and casualty book.
  • Experience building rating plans, appetite frameworks, or underwriting guidelines from scratch.
  • Experience hiring and leading underwriters.

Compensation and Benefits

  • ATS-listed salary range: $100,000–$200,000.
  • The description lists total compensation, including equity, of $150,000–$250,000 in the US or £100,000–£200,000 in the UK.
