Manager, Competitive Programs

Leads and develops a competitive programs team, owns high-priority competitor initiatives, and builds repeatable operating mechanisms across Product, Sales, Marketing, and other commercial functions. Requires 9+ years of relevant experience, people-management experience, strong executive communication, and the ability to lead ambiguous global programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Competitive Programs team, setting objectives, assigning work, coaching program managers, and maintaining high standards for judgment, execution, and stakeholder management.
  • Establish the portfolio and operating model for centrally staffed P0 and P1 competitor programs.
  • Directly manage complex competitive programs across Product, GTM, Commercial, and executive stakeholders.
  • Build repeatable playbooks and mechanisms for responding to competitive threats and scaling organizational learning.
  • Set team SOKRs, portfolio priorities, work plans, and success measures; allocate program-management capacity across priority needs.
  • Design, launch, and manage the lifecycle of competitor programs, including recommendations to continue, adjust, graduate, or re-elevate programs.
  • Build and improve program-management standards, decision logs, operating reviews, escalation mechanisms, and executive reporting.
  • Translate competitive, customer, and deal signals into prioritized actions with accountable functional owners.
  • Provide decision-oriented updates to senior leadership on program health, competitive risks, outcomes, capacity needs, and recommendations.
  • Identify and operationalize cultural change, surface systemic friction, and ensure functional teams own durable solutions.
  • Apply program-design and execution capabilities to other strategic go-to-market priorities as business needs evolve.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience in program management, business operations, go-to-market strategy, management consulting, or a related discipline, including experience in a commercial organization.
  • 2+ years of people-management experience, including setting objectives, assigning work, coaching and developing experienced individual contributors, and managing performance.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex and ambiguous cross-functional programs from problem definition through implementation, adoption, and operational handoff.
  • Experience managing global programs across regions, segments, and product lines.
  • Experience establishing program goals, work plans, operating cadences, decision forums, and success measures.
  • Strong judgment in prioritizing competing demands and allocating limited team capacity.
  • Experience navigating senior stakeholders with differing incentives, priorities, and decision rights.
  • Ability to structure ambiguous qualitative and quantitative inputs into clear recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Strong executive communication, facilitation, and decision-oriented reporting skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort using data to assess program health, identify risks, measure outcomes, and guide prioritization.
  • High ownership, sound judgment, adaptability, and comfort leading through rapid change.
  • Collaborative, hands-on working style and ability to build trust across functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing competitive programs, strategic-account programs, product-launch programs, commercial transformation, or other high-stakes go-to-market initiatives.
  • Experience building a new operating model, program-management team, or repeatable playbook from the ground up.
  • Experience working closely with Product, Product Operations, Product Marketing, Sales, Pricing, Finance and Strategy, Market Intelligence, and GTM Operations.
