Responsibilities
- Advise on accounting treatment for rent, concessions, deposits and refunds, subsidies/HAP, delinquencies, utilities, move-in/move-out, and month-end close.
- Translate real-world accounting workflows into clear product requirements and acceptance tests.
- Review prorations, allocations, adjustments, and charge/credit calculations for accuracy and explainability.
- Develop representative test cases, lead user acceptance testing with client accountants, and confirm outputs reconcile to expectations.
- Define consistent event lifecycles, terminology, and reference guides for controllers and onsite teams.
- Capture enterprise-customer best practices, patterns, and edge cases in durable standards and playbooks.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in multifamily property accounting or controllership at a property management company, owner-operator, or REIT.
- Deep knowledge of general ledgers, sub-ledgers, resident ledgers, deposits, and financial close processes.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP.
- Comfortable communicating with client accounting, operations, and leasing teams.
- Clear stakeholder communication skills, including writing and presentations.
- Willingness to work in person at the office 4–5 days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a software or SaaS environment.
- Familiarity with leading multifamily systems and data handoffs.
- Familiarity with AI or automation in accounting workflows.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $70,000–$110,000.
