Senior Software Engineer, Home Experience

Responsibilities

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering partners to build user-facing products and features.
• Contribute to engineering standards, developer workflows, and best practices; mentor engineers and develop technical expertise across the team.
• Own the full development lifecycle for major projects, including design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Write and review code and design documents; provide feedback on product specifications and design mocks.
• Drive planning, development, and implementation across Reddit’s backend service architecture for native mobile and web clients as part of a full-stack team.
• Promote metrics-led execution, operational excellence, and system observability.
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to develop product and engineering roadmaps.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience as a software engineer developing user-facing applications.
• Fluency with product metrics and designing and analyzing experiments; experience with tools such as BigQuery, HEX, or Firebase.
• Software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages, such as Python, Go, Swift, Kotlin, Rust, or C#.
• Experience leveraging generative AI tools to improve software engineering productivity.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong focus on user experience and usability.
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment with technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with machine learning engineering teams and integrating machine learning solutions.
• Experience in social products.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary range: $190,000–$267,000 USD.
