Principal Software Engineer

Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy and execution by turning complex PAM and network-access problems into clear, modular technical designs.
- Design, architect, and optimize resilient connector plugins for SaaS, NoSQL, and relational databases, as well as routers, switches, firewalls, and other network infrastructure.
- Set standards for clean, secure, and performant backend development in Go.
- Lead constructive code reviews focused on mentoring and engineer growth.
- Collaborate with global technical leads on major architectural decisions and product strategy.
- Participate in global on-call and product-support rotations.
- Mentor mid-level engineers and guide the local engineering pod.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership at Principal or Staff individual-contributor level.
- Significant Privileged Access Management (PAM) or Identity and Access Management (IAM) experience.
- Experience with resource discovery, credential rotation, or agentless communication.
- Strong networking experience with SSH, Telnet, SNMP, router and switch configurations, or database infrastructure integration.
- Extensive experience building high-scale, secure backend services, microservices, and event-driven workflows.
- Strong proficiency in Go, or deep backend expertise in C++, Rust, or Java with willingness to work extensively in Go.
- Understanding of AWS, including IAM, SQS, and Lambda; Kubernetes; and resilient agentless systems.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, make pragmatic trade-offs, and guide engineers to successful delivery.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience at enterprise security companies such as CyberArk, Delinea, or comparable PAM/IAM organizations.
- Experience with graph databases such as ArangoDB.
- Experience with policy engines such as OPA.
- Experience bootstrapping or setting technical direction for autonomous remote engineering pods.
