Senior Software Engineer, Core Developer Experience

Responsibilities

• Lead technical projects improving engineer productivity, quality, and satisfaction on Bubble's core product.
• Migrate off legacy frameworks and introduce modern frontend tooling.
• Upgrade shared libraries and improve support for internal design system.
• Reduce test suite runtime and improve reliability of developer-facing tests.
• Optimize local development loop, including build, bundling, and hot reload times.
• Investigate and resolve frontend performance regressions in the Editor.
• Define standards and build frameworks for other Core teams to adopt.
• Stay up to date with modern AI tools and incorporate into developer workflows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, delivering high-impact projects.
• Strong proficiency with modern frontend frameworks (TypeScript, SolidJS/React) and full-stack work.
• Deep experience with developer tooling: build systems, bundlers, testing frameworks, package managers, CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to modernize large codebases (framework migrations, dependency upgrades, maintainable designs).
• Experience leading multi-engineer projects with alignment and measurable outcomes.
• Strong problem-solving, balancing pragmatic and scalable solutions.
• Collaborative communicator who mentors across levels.

Compensation

Estimated salary: $183,000 - $237,000, plus equity, comprehensive health coverage, 401(k) matching, wellness stipends, generous PTO, sabbatical program.
