About the role
What You'll Do
- Shape the entire platform, creating the coherent vision that ties everything together across Socket's products (Socket Open Source, Firewall, Certified Patches, etc.).
- Lead design as strategy, defining design primitives, patterns, and interactions that scale.
- Partner with leadership (CEO, engineering, sales/marketing) and participate in customer conversations.
- Design end-to-end experiences that make complex security concepts approachable for developers.
- Work with engineering to develop interfaces that abstract complexity while preserving precision.
- Establish and evolve Socket's design system for consistency and speed.
- Shape visual and interaction language; help define roadmap and prioritize design opportunities.
- Be part of hiring and building the design team.
What You'll Bring
- Shipped products at a high bar with systems-level clarity.
- Deep experience designing for developers or technical audiences.
- Portfolio demonstrating systems thinking: design languages, component systems, consistency across complex products.
- Comfort working directly with engineering/product leadership, moving fast without excessive process.
- Experience designing security/infrastructure tools (plus, not required).
- Strong focus on craft and functional details (pixels, interactions, word choice).
