About the job

Responsibilities

  • Architect comprehensive whitespace layouts, including rack placement and aisle configurations, to maximize equipment density while maintaining optimal airflow and accessibility.
  • Integrate power delivery and cooling systems into data center whitespace in partnership with Electrical and Mechanical teams.
  • Develop 3D models and capacity-planning tools to project future utilization and maintain scalable, redundant infrastructure, including N+1 and 2N configurations.
  • Coordinate structured cabling and fiber-management systems with Network and Cloud teams to meet performance and low-latency requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and risk assessments, providing technical guidance to internal stakeholders and external contractors during construction and commissioning.
  • Enforce TIA-942, ASHRAE, ANSI/BICSI, Uptime Institute, and local building-code requirements.
  • Produce and maintain CAD/BIM drawings and schematics for operations, maintenance, and auditing.
  • Evaluate modular technologies and design methodologies to improve energy efficiency and site performance.
  • Travel to data center sites to oversee implementation and conduct inspections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Facilities, or Data Center Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in data center design, preferably in cloud-scale or hyperscale environments.
  • Advanced proficiency with CAD/BIM software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Visio.
  • Deep knowledge of data center power distribution, UPS systems, HVAC/cooling systems, and structured cabling.
  • Knowledge of TIA-942, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, and ANSI/BICSI standards.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to data center sites.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience designing ultra-high-density liquid-cooling systems or modular data centers.
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) or Certified Data Center Design Professional (CDCP) certification.
  • Experience implementing LEED-certified or carbon-neutral data center cooling and power strategies.
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling experience for airflow optimization.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading external vendor teams.

Benefits

  • Competitive benefits package supporting financial security, health, and overall well-being.
  • Benefits tailored to local market standards, including pension contributions and additional work-life-balance perks.
