Associate Counsel, Employment

Responsibilities

• Handle a variety of employment-law matters, including discovery, motion practice, witness preparation, and trial and appellate strategy.
• Develop and implement employment-law strategy aligned with broader business objectives.
• Analyze legal matters and advise on resolution strategy, current law, regulations, and company products and services.
• Manage outside counsel, including tactical guidance, staffing, case management, budgeting, and legal-strategy alignment.
• Advise management and cross-functional teams on employment-law matters.
• Communicate effectively with insurance carriers and other third parties.

Requirements

• Experience practicing law at a leading law firm or in-house.
• J.D. from a top-tier law school.
• Admission to the California bar.
• Strong problem-solving, judgment, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to manage complex workloads, multiple client demands, and shifting priorities under pressure.
• Resourcefulness, strong results orientation, and high professional and ethical standards.
• Understanding of the transportation, ridesharing, and sharing-economy industries.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior in-house experience.
