Responsibilities
- Oversee and strategically manage the worldwide intellectual property portfolio.
- Develop and implement an IP strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Lead invention sessions, invention disclosure selection, patent application drafting and filing, and patent prosecution.
- Advise business partners and the Legal team on US and global intellectual property laws.
- Partner with business and product teams to embed IP protection into products and processes and implement compliance programs.
- Develop legal solutions with Legal and Product stakeholders for new products and customer experiences.
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements involving intellectual property and AI.
- Advance the General Counsel’s and Product Legal team’s strategic vision.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in-house and at a top law firm, ideally including IP portfolio management and product counseling.
- Strategic, business-oriented problem-solving skills and the ability to work from high-level strategy through detailed execution.
- Ability to assess and communicate legal and business risk to executive, business, and technical audiences.
- Collaborative, low-ego approach and willingness to handle projects of varying scale.
- Deep interest in artificial intelligence, generative AI, and machine learning technologies and applications.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Juris Doctor degree.
- Active membership in the California bar in good standing.
Nice to Have
- Experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications involving artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range of $264,800–$331,000 USD.
- Equity compensation may be available for eligible roles.
