Senior Software Development Engineer in Test
The Senior SDET designs scalable Java automation frameworks, test strategies, and CI/CD validation for distributed data systems. The role also develops AI-assisted testing and debugging tools while improving reliability, automation efficiency, and engineering productivity.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide meaningful, risk-focused feedback.
- Design and evolve scalable Java automation frameworks emphasizing reliability, performance, and data correctness.
- Write high-signal test strategies for complex features and automate them across multiple environments.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines with robust validation layers that prevent silent failures and regressions.
- Build internal tools and proof-of-concepts using AI/LLM technologies to accelerate debugging, generate test scenarios, detect flaky patterns and regression risks, improve log analysis and root-cause identification, and enhance developer and QA productivity.
- Design AI-assisted workflows that integrate with existing automation and release pipelines.
- Experiment with and implement agent-based systems or LLM-powered tooling to streamline development and testing.
- Measure and improve engineering impact through reliability metrics, automation efficiency, and defect-prevention signals.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to promote quality ownership and automation-first thinking.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in the software industry with a strong focus on quality, automation, and engineering excellence.
- Deep understanding of object-oriented programming principles and strong proficiency in Java.
- Expertise designing scalable automation frameworks and identifying negative, edge, and high-risk scenarios.
- Understanding of distributed-systems risks, including schema drift, idempotency failures, data inconsistencies, and race conditions.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure and containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, CircleCI, or Buildkite.
- Experience working with backend automation frameworks.
- Ability to leverage AI/LLM tools to accelerate development, debugging, test design, or automation.
- Experience building AI-assisted tools, workflows, or agents integrated into engineering pipelines.
- Ability to design prompt strategies, validate LLM outputs rigorously, and implement safeguards against hallucinations or unsafe automation.
- Ability to streamline workflows using AI and measure productivity improvements.
- Comfortable feeding, tuning, and orchestrating AI agents to solve engineering problems.
- Outcome-oriented approach focused on reliability gains and velocity improvements.
