Data Platform Engineer

Own the data platform infrastructure supporting Mercor’s data-driven teams, including Snowflake governance, access controls, ingestion, orchestration, dashboard governance, and cost management. The role requires strong Snowflake administration, SQL, Python, production pipeline ownership, and CDC/streaming experience.

Responsibilities

  • Establish structure and ownership for data organization in Snowflake across projects and teams.
  • Design role-based access controls and automate access provisioning and revocation.
  • Extend row-access policies and PII masking across sensitive datasets.
  • Migrate vendor and internal data sources into governed, properly owned environments.
  • Own Fivetran connector health and costs.
  • Own Airflow/Astronomer pipeline reliability and on-call operations.
  • Govern Hex dashboards across the company.
  • Monitor and right-size Snowflake warehouse spending.
  • Build CDC/streaming ingestion and internal data-platform tooling.

Requirements

  • Hands-on Snowflake administration, including roles, grants, warehouses, and cost/performance tuning.
  • Experience designing data access and governance models, including RBAC, row-level security, and PII controls, at scale.
  • Experience owning vendor tooling end to end, such as Fivetran and Airflow/Astronomer, including on-call responsibilities.
  • Track record migrating or re-architecting live production data systems without disrupting dependent teams.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills, with infrastructure fluency.
  • Experience owning production CDC/streaming pipelines, including delivery semantics, partitioning, and safe system cutovers.
