About the role
Responsibilities
Be the subject matter expert for Applied's autonomous vehicles by building deep familiarity with all aspects of the system.
Provide vehicle integration support by designing, prototyping, and installing proof-of-concept systems and sensors.
Lead and support the vehicle from build-out through delivery, including final bring-up and shakedown testing.
Design and build test benches to validate mechanical, electrical, embedded, and software systems.
Develop and own documentation related to vehicle integration.
Troubleshoot vehicle systems, computer components, and sensors, performing root cause analysis.
Minimize vehicle downtime while focused on safety.
Work independently on high-level, dynamically evolving challenges.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in mechanical, electrical, or related field.
1+ years technical experience in mechanical, electrical, computer, automotive, or robotics industry.
Experience working with AV components: Lidars, Radars, Cameras.
Previous experience with low volume manufacturing in automotive or robotics industry.
Proven ability to read and understand electrical schematics and datasheets.
Experience with documenting and maintaining detailed assembly procedures.
Experience using shop equipment, 3D printers, automotive diagnostic tools.
Nice to Haves
Familiarity with CAD (or SolidWorks) design process.
CNC, Machining, Metal Working, and Welding experience.
Experience with Automotive Repair and Maintenance.
Familiarity with Python or other programming languages.

Compensation
Base salary range: $118,000 - $201,000 USD annually (plus equity and benefits).
Formula SAE builder role designing, building, and flying lightweight mechanical subsystems for solar-powered stratospheric aircraft. Requires hands-on hardware experience, grit, and willingness to own subsystems end-to-end from concept to flight.
