Responsibilities
- Own the engineering design, development, and release of autonomous hardware for the Nuro Driver system across customer platforms.
- Specify and integrate hardware with vehicle partners to meet system performance and customer product requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally on sensing and electronics architectures for self-driving robots.
- Benchmark electronics technologies and inform make-versus-buy decisions.
- Identify key suppliers and bring concepts through production readiness.
- Manage parts and assemblies from proof-of-concept validation through production readiness.
- Drive quality, cost, and efficiency improvements.
- Communicate technical decisions, development plans, and issues to management.
Requirements
- 2+ years of mechanical design experience with a track record designing, building, and testing electromechanical hardware.
- Experience across the production pipeline, from hand-built prototypes to mass-production factory environments.
- Experience with rapid prototyping, sheet metal, injection molding, machining, and casting.
- Experience designing across materials and optimizing geometry for cost, weight, strength, durability, and thermal performance using FEA and hand calculations.
- Experience creating and executing reliability test plans.
- Experience working with fabrication and module vendors, communicating design requirements, incorporating DFM feedback, managing initial production runs, and overseeing validation testing.
- Strong communication and organizational skills; self-directed and action-oriented.
- Proficiency with CAD.
- Ability to support infrequent domestic and international travel.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with UG NX.
Compensation
- Base salary range: $120,270–$180,410.
- Eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
