Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for inspections, testing, maintenance, and repair of campus-wide systems, including mechanical/HVAC, electrical, compressed air, dust collectors, plumbing tasks, and other preventive maintenance and repair programs.
  • Lead and direct plumbing, compressed air, electrical, and HVAC-focused facility technicians.
  • Schedule daily work and prioritize assignments.
  • Develop, plan, and execute site improvement projects in accordance with business objectives and strategy.
  • Observe contractor work for compliance with safety procedures; report unsafe acts and conditions and stop work when conditions are unsafe.
  • Maintain appropriate records for all trades.
  • Operate with knowledge of chilled water systems, boilers, VFDs, pumps, PLCs, condensers, split systems, air compressors, dust collectors, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Communicate daily activities, projects, team morale, and issues to the manager.
  • Manage vendor and contractor finances in coordination with buyers and accounts payable.
  • Oversee technicians and improve team performance through individual coaching and development.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 3+ years of experience with facilities management.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • Knowledge of building management and automated facilities monitoring systems and processes, including HVAC systems, fluid plumbing systems, generators, compressed air systems, and fuel storage systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing budgets and third-party vendors.
  • Experience negotiating contracts and comparing service costs to achieve maximum value.
  • Experience with asset management software.
  • High attention to detail and cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and develop innovative continuous-improvement solutions.
