Lead Electrical Engineer

Leads electrical engineering design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting for advanced facilities and data centers. Requires an engineering bachelor’s degree, 3+ years of relevant electrical project experience, and expertise in power systems; leadership experience and a PE license are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of electrical engineers and collaborate with MEP engineers, trade partners, facility technicians, utilities personnel, and internal customers.
  • Design and specify electrical power distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, interior and exterior lighting, UPS units, standby and emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, power monitoring systems, data and phone wiring, grounding, fire alarm, and lightning protection systems.
  • Provide engineering support for troubleshooting facility electrical equipment, controllers, and systems.
  • Perform load-flow analysis, electrical equipment evaluations, grounding assessments, and power monitoring reviews.
  • Ensure equipment interfaces correctly with mechanical and electrical systems and complies with facility power budgets.
  • Coordinate electrical installations and maintenance with local utilities.
  • Ensure designs and installations comply with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Conduct code reviews using NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, AFSPCMAN 91-710, and IBC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or another engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with electrical projects, power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS systems, and/or generators.
  • Ability to read and understand power and control schematics and technical equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, written communication, and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a similar role.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives, industrial pumps, MODBUS controls, medium-voltage distribution, control panel design and production, power coordination, and arc-flash analysis.
