Litigation Paralegal

Supports civil litigation and eDiscovery operations across multiple matters, coordinating legal holds, collections, vendors, subpoenas, deadlines, billing, and legal-operations systems. Requires at least three years of paralegal or litigation coordination experience and strong discretion with confidential material.

Responsibilities

  • Manage eDiscovery workflows end to end across multiple matters, including legal hold notices, custodian lists and acknowledgments, custodian interviews, collection, processing, review, and production.
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for eDiscovery and litigation-support vendors, including scoping statements of work, tracking data volumes and hosting costs, reviewing invoices, and enforcing agreed rates and service levels.
  • Support attorneys with case management, including file management, case files and pleadings, docketing, key deadlines, hearing dates, and matter updates.
  • Own intake for new matters and third-party legal requests by logging, triaging, routing, and summarizing claims, requesters, matter types, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate responses to subpoenas, summonses, preservation demands, litigation hold requests, and other third-party legal requests.
  • Help manage outside counsel relationships and billing records, including matter budgets, accrual tracking, invoice review against Outside Counsel Guidelines, and billing-system hygiene.
  • Build and improve intake workflows, response playbooks, matter templates, trackers, escalation paths, and preservation checklists.
  • Support litigation and legal-operations projects, including tool implementations, vendor evaluations, and policy rollouts.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or litigation coordinator at a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Deep understanding of civil litigation from inception through resolution.
  • Hands-on eDiscovery experience across the EDRM lifecycle, including legal holds, document preservation, collection, processing, review, and production.
  • Experience working directly with eDiscovery and litigation-support vendors, including statements of work, budgets, and invoices.
  • Experience managing a high volume of concurrent matters and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and exacting attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential and privileged material.

Nice to Have

  • Paralegal certificate, associate’s degree in paralegal studies, or bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with eDiscovery review platforms, legal research and docketing databases, document management systems, and legal billing or matter management software.
  • Experience processing subpoenas, summonses, and other third-party legal requests.
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI tools used to build real workflows.
  • Experience at a high-growth technology startup.
  • Interest in artificial intelligence laws and regulations.
