About the role

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead technical roadmaps for scalable, high-performance systems.
  • Set engineering standards for code quality, design, and implementation.
  • Provide mentorship to junior and senior engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement best practices in software development.
  • Lead architectural discussions to ensure systems meet long-term goals for performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and engineers to develop technical strategies.
  • Drive architectural improvements and technical debt resolution.
  • Make decisions on technology stacks, tools, and frameworks.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and business units to align engineering with business priorities.
  • Advocate for engineering needs and ensure projects meet timeframes and budgets.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality features and services.
  • Stay current with software development trends and bring innovative ideas.
  • Lead research and development for new tools and approaches.
  • Tackle complex technical problems requiring in-depth knowledge and creative solutions.
  • Serve as a role model in technical and soft skills.
  • Mentor engineers for technical and career growth.
  • Lead technical interviews, hiring, and onboarding.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with a track record leading technical work on complex, high-scale systems.
  • Deep experience designing scalable, performant architectures and making technology decisions that scale with product and team growth.
  • High bar for code quality, design, and implementation; ability to raise standards collaboratively.
  • Natural mentor who finds satisfaction in others' growth and shares knowledge freely.
  • Comfortable in ambiguity; can define technical roadmaps from business goals and drive alignment.
  • Operates like an owner, focused on business outcomes, timely delivery, and impact.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; can translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and partner with Product and Design.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $160000 - $175000 annually (may be adjusted based on experience and location).
