About the role
Responsibilities
Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the legal leadership team, aligning strategic priorities.
Drive cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution and hold stakeholders accountable for deadlines and deliverables.
Prepare materials for team and leadership meetings and communications.
Manage meeting, offsite, and strategic planning cadences.
Develop and track KPIs and metrics for legal department performance.
Design, implement, and improve legal department processes, workflows, and systems, including matter management, contract lifecycle management, and e-billing.
Own the legal department budget, including forecasting, spend tracking, and outside counsel fee management.
Manage outside counsel and legal vendor relationships, including rate negotiation and performance evaluation.
Manage law enforcement and government request response processes, including intake, triage, and responses to subpoenas, warrants, and other requests.
Support legal team hiring, onboarding, and resource planning.
Partner with legal, compliance, and security teams on complex or sensitive requests.
Requirements
10+ years of experience in a combination of chief of staff, legal operations, management consulting, or law firm/in-house legal roles.
Ability to manage and collaborate with team members at all levels with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
Strong financial acumen, including budget management and vendor negotiation.
Familiarity with legal technology platforms, including CLM, e-billing, and matter management systems.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to synthesize complex information for executive audiences.
Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and drive results in ambiguous environments.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience managing law enforcement or government request response processes, including subpoenas, warrants, and regulatory inquiries.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary: $148,000.00–$205,000.00.
