Responsibilities
- Own and build backend services and infrastructure for a high-throughput observability platform.
- Develop reliable data pipelines and APIs for logs, metrics, traces, and session replays.
- Design and implement scalable systems for ingesting, processing, and querying petabytes of observability data.
- Collaborate with open-source contributors and customers, resolve technical challenges, and incorporate feedback into backend architecture and API design.
- Build developer tooling and services that improve the developer experience.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development, preferably in developer tools or infrastructure.
- Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills, with experience in Express, Fastify, or similar frameworks.
- Solid understanding of API design, distributed systems, and data modeling.
- Experience with containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Passion for open source and developer communities.
- Experience creating developer tooling and designing for developers.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Go and Go-based services.
- Experience with ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or other analytical or OLTP databases.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, logging pipelines, or metrics infrastructure.
- Experience designing SDKs or client libraries.
- Exposure to message queues, streaming systems such as Kafka or NATS, or event-driven architectures.
- Strong opinions about observability tools and a vision for improving them.
