Director of Accounting
Lead and build the accounting department at a blockchain company, overseeing financial reporting, compliance, digital asset accounting, and team development. Requires 10+ years experience including Big 4 and crypto, plus CPA.
About the job
What you'll do:
- Lead the monthly close process and prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow
- Drive opportunities for process improvements and automation, optimize our accounting systems and tools, and lead the implementation of accounting best practices
- Ensure consistent implementation of accounting principles and procedures in compliance with US GAAP, staying up to date with FASB and SEC guidance, especially related to any digital asset policies
- Develop, implement and enforce financial controls and policies
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable, expense reimbursements, and accounts receivable
- Own digital asset reporting and reconciliations
- Provide support to the management team in making informed financial decisions
- Work with our tax partners to prepare and file tax documents and returns
- Build and mentor the Accounting team

What you'll need:
- Accounting department builder at heart
- 10+ years experience with time spent at a Big 4 accounting firm
- 2+ years of recent experience at a crypto company or crypto native
- Experience or familiarity with digital asset accounting is highly preferred
- Prior experience leading a financial audit in partnership with external auditors
- CPA license holder
- Experience with multi-entity operations
- Strong proficiency in accounting software, financial planning tools and Microsoft Excel
- Great communicator with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized and tactical
- Ability to think strategically about department building and rolling out new processes
- Excited to roll up your sleeves and comfortable working in a fast-paced start-up environment, executing on multiple projects at any given time
