Director, Technical Revenue Accounting
Leads complex ASC 606 revenue accounting, technical policy, and contract assessments for new products, strategic deals, and marketplace partnerships. The role partners cross-functionally, oversees revenue processes and systems, and requires extensive accounting experience, CPA credentials, and SQL proficiency.

Responsibilities
- Own and author the company’s ASC 606 technical accounting memo portfolio, including complex revenue recognition scenarios and standalone selling price studies.
- Lead technical revenue assessments for new products and programs, including performance obligations, standalone selling prices, and contract modifications.
- Advise Deal Desk, Sales, Legal, Product, Pricing, and go-to-market teams on non-standard deal terms and strategic commercial arrangements.
- Provide accounting guidance for cloud marketplace, reseller, partnership, and co-sell arrangements, including principal-versus-agent determinations and revenue-share economics.
- Own standalone selling price allocations, contractual credit amortization, channel incentives and rebates, and revenue footnote disclosures.
- Maintain the revenue contract review framework, including ASC 606 checklists, position papers, and escalation paths.
- Research emerging revenue recognition issues and present recommendations to the Controller.
- Translate technical accounting requirements into actionable business guidance.
- Review revenue-related month-end close journal entries and flux analysis.
- Lead revenue process improvement and system implementation projects, including scoping, design approval, and user acceptance testing.
Requirements
- Track record authoring technical accounting memoranda for complex, judgment-intensive revenue arrangements.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606, including performance obligations, standalone selling prices, contract modifications, consideration payable to customers, principal-versus-agent analysis, material rights, and variable consideration.
- Ability to conduct technical accounting research and communicate complex accounting positions clearly.
- Hands-on experience with revenue recognition tools such as Workday Financial Management or Zuora RevPro.
- SQL proficiency for analyzing revenue and contract datasets.
- Experience leading cross-functional workstreams across Deal Desk, Product, and Partnership teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- CPA required.
Nice-to-haves
- 14+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 4+ years in technical revenue leadership or management.
- Big Four technical accounting or national office experience combined with industry experience.
- Technical accounting advisory, revenue recognition consulting, or implementation experience.
- Experience with cloud marketplace, reseller, or channel partnership revenue arrangements.
- Experience with consumption-based and subscription-based revenue models.
- Knowledge of revenue recognition complexities in AI/ML, SaaS, and technology sectors.
Compensation
- Annual salary range: $230,000–$300,000 USD.
