Principal Content Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the content architecture for Developer GTM, including content types, editorial standards, and quality standards across tutorials, blog posts, sample applications, newsletters, and community and education content.
• Curate, edit, and maintain content for clarity, consistency, freshness, and cohesion.
• Design and operate scalable quality systems, including self-healing pipelines, AI-assisted review and maintenance, CI checks, and quality guardrails.
• Build flagship technical content, including tutorials, reference architectures, and runnable demos for Workers, Workers AI, R2, Durable Objects, Queues, and related developer-platform products.
• Partner with Growth, DevRel, Product, and PMM to map content to the developer journey from discovery and signup through deployment and production usage.
• Define and track content quality and discoverability metrics; use analytics and experimentation to improve results.
• Build AI-assisted content tooling and guardrails and optimize content for discovery and consumption by AI agents and large language models.
• Identify emerging developer behaviors and workloads, including AI agents, MCP servers, vibe coding, multi-tenant applications, and edge-native architectures, and translate them into content and narratives.
• Establish conventions, templates, and tooling that improve accuracy and consistency across GTM content.
• Mentor and coach writers, advocates, and engineers.

Requirements

• 12+ years at the intersection of technical content, developer education, and software engineering.
• Portfolio demonstrating strong technical writing as well as the ability to build what you write about.
• Exceptional technical writing and editing skills.
• Engineering experience designing, building, shipping, and maintaining production tooling.
• Proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript and modern web development.
• Familiarity with version control, CI/CD, and testing.
• Experience building on serverless or edge platforms; Cloudflare Workers experience is a strong plus.
• Experience building automated content systems, including pipelines, CI checks, freshness and validation tooling, and AI-assisted review or maintenance.
• Experience with content analytics and experimentation, including acquisition, activation, and adoption outcomes.
• Experience with information architecture and editorial standards for a substantial technical content surface.
• Knowledge of the developer journey and how developers discover, evaluate, and adopt platforms.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience guiding a content platform migration or redesign.
• Knowledge of evaluation frameworks or observability for AI-powered systems.

Compensation and Benefits

• Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.
• For NYC-based hires: estimated annual salary of $230,000 - $317,000.
• For Bay Area-based hires: estimated annual salary of $220,000 - $303,000.
• Eligible to participate in Cloudflare’s equity plan.
