Responsibilities
- Set KPIs, 1-1s, performance reviews, and clear metrics for the entire engineering team.
- Run the team day to day with the CTO: 1:1s, growth, performance, and weekly cadence.
- Partner on technical direction; lead calls in your scope and push back on others.
- Drive compliance programs: SOC 2 Type 2, PCI DSS, and enterprise security questionnaires.
- Co-own incident response and on-call.
- Ship code as an IC across tooling, dashboards, capacity models, and on-call ergonomics.
- Recruit and bring top talent.
Requirements
- Led engineering teams through early hypergrowth (e.g., scaled 5-15 or 10-25 people).
- Excellent IC who ships code and holds own in systems discussions with senior engineers.
- Run or been close to compliance programs (SOC 2, PCI, ISO 27001, or similar).
- Helped develop specific people's careers.
- Write and think clearly.
- Experience in early-stage startup chaos and pace.
