VP, Product Management

Leads strategy and roadmap for Vestmark’s portfolio-management platform, covering UMA/SMA construction, overlay trading, rebalancing, and tax-aware investing. Requires 10+ years in product, portfolio management, or investment technology and deep managed-account expertise.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Own the product strategy, vision, and roadmap for UMA, SMA, and multi-sleeve portfolio construction, overlay trading, and rebalancing capabilities across the VAST platform.
  • Translate Portfolio Management operations—including trading discretion, sleeve- versus account-level rebalancing, cash coordination across sleeves, tax overlay management, and composite/performance attribution—into prioritized product requirements.
  • Serve as the internal subject-matter authority on UMA structures, including sleeves, base sleeves, overlay managers, manager-traded sleeves, flexible models, and custom models, and how they intersect with household-level asset-location rebalancing.
  • Partner with engineering and design to architect scalable solutions for wirehouse and broker-dealer UMA programs, asset managers, and overlay managers.
  • Work with Portfolio Managers, overlay managers, and asset-manager partners to gather requirements and validate solutions before and after delivery.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with Vestmark Advisory Solutions leadership so the roadmap reflects the needs of its Portfolio Management team.
  • Define and prioritize the product backlog, balancing strategic platform investments with client-specific and regulatory commitments.
  • Represent Vestmark’s UMA and portfolio-management capabilities in client and prospect conversations, RFPs, and executive business reviews.
  • Partner with Sales, Relationship Management, and Client Delivery to support client adoption and platform scaling.
  • Monitor trends in managed accounts, direct indexing, tax management, and multi-manager portfolio construction and translate them into product decisions.
  • Contribute to the company’s core values.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, portfolio management, or investment technology roles within wealth management or asset management.
  • Deep understanding of managed-account concepts, including sleeves, overlay management, account- versus sleeve-level trading discretion, rebalancing engines, tax transition, tax-loss harvesting, and composite performance attribution.
  • Ability to translate complex investment-operations concepts into product requirements and user experiences for internal Portfolio Managers and external wealth-management clients.
  • Experience delivering platform capabilities to broker-dealers, RIAs, TAMPs, or other wealth-channel audiences.
  • Strong track record partnering with engineering and design teams to ship complex, scalable financial-technology solutions.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with service, marketing, sales, and account management teams to understand requirements and launch products.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence, with the ability to present to clients, prospects, and senior stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Nice-to-haves

  • CFA, CIMA, or similar investment credential.
  • Familiarity with optimization and rebalancing tools such as Northfield and BARRA/Axioma.
  • Experience integrating portfolio optimization engines into automated, rules-based trading and rebalancing workflows.
  • Background at a wirehouse, broker-dealer, RIA aggregator, TAMP, or asset manager delivering tax-managed investment solutions.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary range: $200,000–$250,000 USD.
  • Compensation depends on skills, experience, qualifications, job scope, and location.
  • Comprehensive total rewards package, including company-paid medical premiums of 90%, competitive time off, and other variable compensation when eligible.
