Senior Software Engineer, Accounting Engineering
Build reliable accounting platforms, ERP integrations, and close workflows for finance teams. The role requires 5+ years of backend-focused software engineering experience, full-stack development skills, and expertise with distributed systems and correctness-critical domains.

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the core accounting platform, including reusable records, rules, mappings, and versioned APIs.
- Own ERP connectivity end-to-end, including reliable integrations with NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, and Oracle; synchronization, error recovery, and rate-limit handling.
- Implement customer-facing close experiences for reviewing, configuring, reconciling, and exporting financial activity in a React/TypeScript dashboard.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, and Implementation teams to simplify complex accounting and ERP concepts for finance teams.
- Design distributed systems with idempotency, reconciliation, traceability, and proactive issue detection as first-class architectural concerns.
- Own work end-to-end across user experience, API design, data models, scalability, and observability.
- Integrate production ML models that predict GL coding and mappings while preserving explainability and human review.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and maintain high operational standards for mission-critical systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience, focused on backend development.
- 2+ years building systems where correctness and reliability were core requirements, such as fintech, payments, financial systems, healthcare, legal, or another regulated industry.
- Strong technical curiosity and a track record of owning significant technical scope and delivering high-quality solutions.
- Experience designing APIs, data models, and platform capabilities for varied customer workflows and configurations.
- Proficiency with backend technologies such as Kotlin, Java, or TypeScript; familiarity with Kotlin and Micronaut.
- Experience architecting, developing, and testing full-stack applications end-to-end.
- Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, event streaming such as Kafka, and distributed systems.
- High engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, and operational excellence, with a history of raising those standards through review and mentorship.
- Strong written and verbal English communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with accounting systems or ERPs such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, or Oracle.
- Familiarity with monthly close, general ledger coding, reconciliation, or double-entry bookkeeping.
- Experience building third-party integrations at scale, including handling API limits, schema drift, and asynchronous failure recovery.
- Experience shipping ML- or LLM-powered product features where explainability and human review matter.
- Experience with platform or API products consumed by engineering teams or external developers.
- Experience leading technical design across multiple teams or mentoring engineers as a formal or informal tech lead.
