Software Engineering Intern
Build and ship full-stack production software during a summer internship, including React and TypeScript user experiences and Java backend services. The role emphasizes testing, code reviews, collaboration, and learning reliable software delivery.

Responsibilities
- Ship production code as part of a product engineering team, from the first pull request through deployment.
- Build user-facing experiences in React and TypeScript for caregivers and senior living communities.
- Develop backend services in Java powering care workflows, notifications, and customer-system integrations.
- Write tests, participate in code reviews, and iterate on feedback.
- Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to scope, build, and deliver features.
- Learn to build and operate reliable software.
Requirements
- Strong programming fundamentals in at least one language, such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or Python.
- Evidence of building through coursework, personal projects, open source, internships, bootcamps, or self-directed work.
- Familiarity with web fundamentals, including APIs, HTTP, and databases.
- Curiosity, initiative, willingness to learn quickly, and strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Interest in building technology that serves overlooked communities.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with React, Node.js, or a JVM language.
- Exposure to SQL or other databases.
- Experience with AI development tools such as Cursor, Claude, or GitHub Copilot, with the judgment to review generated code.
- A project to demonstrate.
- Interest in healthcare, aging, or mission-driven technology.
Compensation & Benefits
- $50/hour.
- In-office culture with up to two remote days per week.
