Senior software engineer responsible for architecting and scaling Snowflake’s multi-cloud managed database infrastructure, including distributed systems, automation, reliability, and security. Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement database products for internal needs.
- Create cloud-agnostic abstractions and infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Lead complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives from inception through production.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and establish software engineering best practices.
- Harden database infrastructure to meet uptime, security, and durability SLAs.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, investigate complex production incidents, and lead blameless post-mortems.
- Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, and Site Reliability Engineering teams to support product capabilities at scale.
Requirements
- 7–12 years of professional experience designing, building, operating, and scaling large-scale backend distributed systems in production environments.
- Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and Redis and with large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong hands-on programming experience in Go, Java, C++, or Rust.
- Extensive experience architecting infrastructure on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Experience with cloud networking constructs such as VPC peering, PrivateLink, and Transit Gateways.
- Proficiency automating global fleet deployment and configuration with Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Proven technical ownership, ability to turn ambiguous problems into roadmaps, and experience delivering projects across multiple engineering teams.
- US citizenship or lawful permanent resident status required.
Compensation
- Annual salary range: $200,000–$287,500.
