Electrical Engineering Intern

Electrical engineering interns will design, prototype, test, and integrate PCBAs and electrical systems for semiconductor fabrication equipment. The role requires an engineering degree in progress, strong electrical fundamentals, hands-on prototyping experience, and a portfolio of built systems.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Design PCBAs and electrical systems for fabrication machines, owning schematic capture, layout, bring-up, testing, integration, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, and process teams to gather system requirements and independently investigate ambiguous or missing requirements.
  • Evaluate electrical design approaches through detailed analysis and simulations, balancing off-the-shelf components with custom solutions.
  • Identify problems, prototype solutions, productionize prototypes, and deliver finished systems.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering.
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering, including KiCad or Altium, microcontrollers, embedded systems, and digital circuits.
  • Ability to learn quickly and troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Hands-on prototyping experience and ability to move quickly through design cycles.
  • Portfolio demonstrating built projects, preferably a medium-to-high complexity system shipped through a personal project or previous internship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with semiconductor processing, including ALD, CVD, PVD, and photolithography.
  • Hands-on electromechanical assembly design and analysis experience from coursework, internships, or personal projects.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly compensation equivalent to an annualized range of $108,000–$126,000, depending on experience and education.
  • Housing stipend, meals, stocked office kitchen, learning and development opportunities, commuter benefits, paid time off, visa sponsorship, medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), and life and disability insurance.
