Build and operate a highly available, multi-region PostgreSQL platform, developing automation, monitoring, disaster recovery, and performance tooling. Requires experience with large-scale PostgreSQL clusters, infrastructure as code, scripting, containers, and observability.

Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and manage PostgreSQL database clusters in production.
- Develop and maintain database tooling for automation, monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Implement high-availability, backup, and disaster-recovery solutions.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to integrate database tools.
- Use observability tools to monitor database health and implement proactive solutions.
- Optimize database performance, indexing strategies, and query tuning.
Requirements
- Experience building, scaling, and managing large-scale, multi-tenant PostgreSQL clusters, including high-availability failover and disaster-recovery strategies.
- Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform, Ansible, or Salt.
- Scripting experience with Python and Bash for automation.
- Experience building and maintaining database automation and monitoring tools.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience optimizing database performance and tuning queries.
- Experience with alerting and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Kibana.
Nice to Have
- Experience developing software in Go, Ruby, or C/C++.
- Contributions to PostgreSQL or relevant open-source projects.
- Experience with database schema migrations and automation using Flyway, Liquibase, or goose.
- Experience with connection pooling solutions such as PgBouncer and HAProxy.
- Experience with non-relational data stores, including Cassandra, Timescale, and Redis.
Compensation
- Bay Area hires: estimated annual salary of $157,000–$196,000.
- New York hires: estimated annual salary of $150,000–$187,000.
- Eligible to participate in the company equity plan.
