Senior Full Stack Engineer
Build and lead end-to-end software for UK police custody systems across React, Java, GraphQL, MySQL, and AWS. The role requires strong architectural judgment, cross-team leadership, mentoring, and experience using AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities
- Build and own full-stack software for UK police custody systems, from database migrations through user interfaces.
- Design and ship workflows from GraphQL schemas through React components.
- Investigate production issues using traces and logs, and deliver fixes.
- Collaborate with teammates to solve complex state-management and application problems.
- Lead cross-team features by designing architecture, coordinating parallel workstreams, and supporting junior engineers.
- Review pull requests, identify unintended impacts, and guide safer technical approaches.
- Build and improve AI-assisted and agentic development workflows, including code review and engineering automation.
- Participate in biannual hackathons and prototype new ideas.
Requirements
- Professional software engineering experience owning complex systems and delivering large-scale technical initiatives.
- Experience mentoring and supporting other engineers.
- Strong technical judgment and architectural decision-making skills.
- Experience leading projects across multiple teams or domains and influencing technical direction.
- Ability to balance immediate delivery with long-term technical health.
- Experience with Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and MySQL.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code.
- Strong ownership and accountability for technical outcomes and team success.
- Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and navigating technical trade-offs.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
- The role may require Non-Police Personnel Vetting security clearance up to level 3.
