What You’ll Do
- Design and scale backend services that power Parker’s financial products and APIs.
- Lead architectural decisions to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability across our systems.
- Build and maintain services in a modern cloud-native environment (Node.js, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS).
- Partner with product and infrastructure teams to design secure, intuitive APIs and data models.
- Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, technical mentorship, and architectural guidance.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and lead initiatives to improve reliability, observability, and system design.
- Contribute to the evolution of Parker’s technical roadmap and long-term engineering vision.
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend systems in production.
- Strong proficiency with Node.js and Typescript (or comparable backend languages such as Go, Java, or Python).
- Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with GraphQL, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
Nice to Haves
- Experience working in fintech, payments, or e-commerce infrastructure.
- Background in credit systems, ledgering, or transactional data modeling.
- Contributions to or interest in open source software.
- Experience in high-growth startup environments.
