Senior Software Engineer - Systems Level
Develop system software and integrations for YubiKey production, fulfillment, and manufacturing operations. The role requires 5+ years of software engineering experience, strong native or memory-safe language skills, operating-system knowledge, and familiarity with cryptography.

Responsibilities
- Design, propose, and refactor applications and integrations that enable Windows desktop operators to use custom production equipment.
- Prototype, test, and refine software based on user feedback, industry standards, and business needs.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Production, Hardware, and UX teams to deliver streamlined operational software.
- Design and develop user experiences using native and cross-platform technologies.
- Build knowledge of security technologies and protocols supported by YubiKeys, including FIDO2/WebAuthn, FIDO U2F, and PIV.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Familiarity with operating-system internals and services, including synchronization primitives, file-system access, threading, thread safety, and logging.
- Experience building system software with modern C++, C#, Rust, or .NET.
- Experience integrating REST APIs.
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude, Codex, or ChatGPT.
- Architecture and software design experience.
- Knowledge of asymmetric cryptography.
- Ability to learn and apply new technologies in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience writing or using C/C++ libraries and software.
- Experience with PostgreSQL.
- Experience building and interacting with system-level services.
- Experience working with operating-system APIs, including serial ports or block devices.
- Experience with binary serialization protocols and formats.
Nice to Have
- Experience developing software to control robotics, such as orchestration engines for robotic arms.
- Experience with WPF/XAML and the MVVM pattern.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range: $170,000–$210,000 USD.
