Senior Software Engineer, Network Tooling
Build and scale distributed network control-plane tooling for edge, backbone, and data center operations at a cloud provider. The role requires 5+ years of backend engineering experience, strong distributed-systems expertise, and proficiency in a modern backend language.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop network state management systems for network provisioning, configuration management, topology and routing state, and control plane APIs.
- Help scale control plane systems as network scale, device counts, and infrastructure complexity increase.
- Mentor engineers, contribute to technical assessments and code reviews, and uphold high standards in design and implementation.
- Partner with product, operations, and engineering teams on build-versus-buy decisions and networking priorities.
- Design fault-tolerant, distributed control plane systems for high availability and resilience.
- Advocate for modern software development, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Own initiatives from ideation through development and deployment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend systems in production.
- Proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Go, Rust, C++, Java, or Python.
- Understanding of distributed systems concepts, including consensus, state reconciliation, fault tolerance, and high-availability design.
- Experience designing and building scalable, reliable APIs or services used by multiple teams.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tooling.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with networking software, protocols, or control plane systems, including routing, switching, BGP, or SDN.
- Experience at a cloud provider, hyperscaler, or large-scale data center operator.
- Familiarity with gNMI, gRPC, or NETCONF.
- Experience with Kubernetes orchestration or custom controllers/operators.
- Contributions to open-source infrastructure or networking projects.

- Compensation range of $170,000–$205,000 plus bonus.
