About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own the multi-quarter strategy for AAX engineering, translating company and product priorities into roadmap plans across consumer-facing AI experiences, AI Platform, App Journey, and Design Systems.
  • Build, lead, and hire a high-caliber leadership bench of technical leaders and senior individual contributors.
  • Establish technical direction and architectural alignment across consumer-facing AI experiences, AI Platform, App Journey, and Design Systems.
  • Drive an AI-native engineering culture and set standards for shipping LLM-powered features safely at scale.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, and Risk leadership to shape roadmaps, challenge assumptions, and integrate platform and member value into long-range plans.
  • Represent the organization in cross-functional and executive forums, connecting engineering work to company strategy and outcomes.
  • Cultivate a high-performing culture through talent, performance, career development, and succession practices.
  • Ensure strong operational practices, including on-call, monitoring, and incident response, for owned services and experiences.
  • Contribute to company-wide engineering initiatives as a member of the engineering leadership team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing managers or leading multi-team engineering organizations.
  • Track record of building and scaling AI/LLM-powered consumer products.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and retaining engineering leaders and Staff+ individual contributors.
  • Strong technical fundamentals across relevant parts of the stack, such as React Native, Python or Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and distributed systems.
  • Ability to translate company and product strategy into multi-quarter engineering plans and adapt organizational design as priorities and scale evolve.
  • Excellent executive communication skills and ability to connect organizational strategy to business outcomes.
  • Experience partnering with Product, Design, Data Science, and Risk/Compliance functions in a regulated or high-trust environment.
  • AI-native fluency and experience fostering AI-native practices across teams.
  • Ability to motivate teams through aggressive schedules and goals.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $269,000.00–$373,000.00.
  • Eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits.
  • Benefits include backup child, elder, and pet care; subsidized commuter benefits; health, financial, and wellbeing benefits; generous vacation and paid company days; wellness stipend; paid parental leave; and family planning reimbursement.
  • In-office policy generally includes four days per week in the office and Fridays from home for employees near an office; a fully remote program is also available.
