Cloud Platform Engineer

Own Mercor’s internal identity and cloud platform infrastructure as code, automating provisioning, access management, secrets, and employee lifecycle workflows. The role requires production Terraform, Okta, SCIM, and multi-cloud IAM experience, plus strong automation, incident response, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own Okta identity infrastructure and provisioning as code using Terraform.
  • Design and implement SCIM integrations across the SaaS stack for automated user provisioning and deprovisioning.
  • Own identity planning and architecture, including access models, group strategy, and entitlement evolution.
  • Manage cloud account structure, IAM roles, and permission boundaries across AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, and Vercel.
  • Build and maintain Terraform for internal platforms so environments are reproducible and changes are reviewable.
  • Automate employee onboarding and offboarding workflows.
  • Design and manage secrets management, key rotation, and service-account lifecycle processes.
  • Troubleshoot identity and infrastructure issues, identify root causes, and implement systemic fixes.
  • Document platform architecture, runbooks, and automation.
  • Mentor IT team members on infrastructure as code, automation, and systems thinking.
  • Establish sustainable escalation procedures and participate in an on-call rotation for weekend emergencies.

Requirements

  • Production experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code.
  • Production experience with Okta and SCIM integrations, preferably managed declaratively.
  • Strong IAM experience across at least two major cloud platforms: AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure; Vercel experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language and understanding of core coding principles.
  • Experience building automated workflows across systems through APIs.
  • Strong incident management skills, including triage, root-cause analysis, and systems thinking.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain identity and infrastructure concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Systems-thinking mindset with the ability to trace dependencies and anticipate second-order effects.

Compensation

  • Annual salary: $190,000–$230,000.
  • Full-time, in-office role in San Francisco, five days per week.
